This is a different take on friendly dragons. Overall this was a fantastic book and I would recommend it, if it wasn’t quite so preoccupied with romance and such.

Relkin has been trying to get his hands on a dragon stamp so Bazil could join the army. Bazil Broketail is unquestionably the best book I have ever read. A great adventure story of the few brave soldiers facing great odds and winning against the overwelming enemy. Their hunger for battle is only matched by their hunger for food. I really wanted to love this book given who recommended it to me and the reviews I read but while it had some good bits here and there it was overall too messy to keep me interested.

The Masters have found their most powerful magics to reside in the deaths of the wyverns, and hunted them severely before the reptiles joined with humans for mutual protection.
Prowled by giant beasts and carnivorous lizards, its innumerable dangers are brokeatil. The magic system laid out here is wonderful and unique, focusing on sacrifices and movement between the planes of existence.

Decent but not great read. A bold start to one of my favorite fantasy series. A careful kid, ready to play by the rules most of the time, but equally ready to abandon them when it became necessary.
Striding around on their hind-legs wearing leather armor and swinging broketzil foot dragonswords they are a vision of incarnate carnage on the battle field.
The battle of Tog Utbek provides a pyrrhic victory for the Legions, for though they destroy the enemy’s forces and cannon they suffer huge casualties and are pursued by further enemy troops. But ending was intersting, so I think, I’ll read sequel. Tummuz Orgmeen falls to the invading Argonath forces and Besita is rescued.

It has not been in print for some time, brkoetail there is no audiobook version, but find a copy and read it, it is well worth it.
