This was an integrated approach for ‘a sustainable society’ where the mix of different economic levels of society could stay together.
The site was selected on the basis of linkages to the city and employment opportunities in the surroundings. Ten houses, each with a courtyard at the back, form a cluster that opens onto a street.
The total idea of conceiving this project was to improve and upgrade the existing slum area and provide around 6, residential plots of varying sizes starting from sq ft for economically weaker section to 4, sq ft for high-income groups.
Being a slum development project, the inspiration was taken from the existing slum settlements where a small neighbourhood is formed with houses extending to the outdoors. The master plan, prepared by the Vastu-Shilpa Foundation inis designed around a central spine comprising the business district.
